Ao subir do fundo de um lago para a superfície, o volume de uma bolha de gás triplica. Supondo que a temperatura da água no fundo do lago seja igual à temperatura na superfície, e considerando que a pressão exercida por uma coluna de água de 10 m de altura corresponde, praticamente, à pressão de uma atmosfera, podemos concluir que a profundidade do lago, em metros, é aproximadamente:

Da Lei Geral dos Gases Perfeitos, nas tranformações isotérmicas, temos:
P¿.V¿ = P.V, onde P¿ é apressão inicial e V¿ é o volume inicial, ambos no fundo do lago. P e V são respectivamente, a pressão e volume finais, ambos na superfície.
Da Física, a pressão em uma profundidade qualquer é dada por:
P’ = p + dgh
Assim: (105 + 103.10h).V¿ = 105.3V¿ => 105 + 104h = 3 .105 => h = (3-1).105/104 => h = 20m
